Clear Braces

Clear Braces

We offer a couple different kinds of esthetic braces.

Our clear esthetic braces are the latest in orthodontic bracket technology. They are a great cosmetic choice, because they are less visible than our metal brackets. Virtually invisible, there are several advantages clear braces have over traditional braces and aligners. Clear braces combine tieless braces with high technology archwires that are clinically proven to move teeth fast and comfortably with truly spectacular smile and facial results. Treatment times and cost are no different in these ceramic braces than in metal braces so the choice is purely an esthetic one.

Finally, we offer lingual braces, or those that fit in behind your teeth. They truly are the most esthetic option and are considered for those that have greater development of their teeth. Most need to be at least in high school to consider this option. Treatment times are generally extended compared to more traditional options.

Clear Braces FAQs

Do clear aligners work?

Clear aligners are an alternative to traditional braces. They apply forces (pressure) to the teeth to gradually move them to a more optimal position. The forces are applied in a different manner and because of the flexibility of the aligners used to provide optimal biomechanical pressures to the teeth, we create a series of aligners that are worn for a week at a time before moving onto the next set. Teeth are moved up to 0.3mm with each set of aligners until treatment is complete. Proper planning and patient compliance with prescribed wear of 21-22 hours per day yields great results.

Do aligners work as good as braces?

Clear aligners are a good alternative to more traditional braces in certain situations. They are now often used as a replacement for braces in an attempt to correct everyone’s problem with a singular solution. Unfortunately, no one solution is the right answer for everyone. A clear understanding of both functional and esthetic goals for each patient allows the orthodontist to provide appropriate treatment recommendations. Generally, we use clear aligners to correct teeth that are mildly to moderately spaced or crowded; aligners are a great option for patients whose back teeth already fit together as they should.

Do aligners work as good as braces?

Suresmile Clear Aligners are effective when utilized in the right situations. If mild to moderate straightening of the teeth is all that is required, aligners might be a viable option. The more complex the problem and treatment plan, the more likely braces will be required to resolve all functional and straightening issues.

Are clear aligners better than braces?

Aligners are not necessarily better or faster than braces, but may be a more desirable choice for some patients who want a more discreet form of orthodontic treatment that doesn’t use wires and brackets. Aligners and braces both use pressure applied to teeth so that can be moved into more desirable positions, but they do so differently.  Clear aligners are generally selected if predictable movements can be made and less visibility is desired. Lingual (behind the teeth) braces are also a very esthetic option and allow for a greater number of predictable movements.
